If you have been following the news lately you would know that the number one story and filling up news feeds everywhere is the White House revoking Jim Acosta's White House press pass. Though CNN is claiming that what the Trump Administration did is going against freedom of speech and the press, the White House has every right to revoke Acosta's press pass and these are the reasons why:
1. It is not a right to be a White House Press Correspondent. It is a privilege to be the correspondent to the White House. Therefore, this privilege should only be reserved for people that deserve it. Acosta does not deserve this privilege based his behavior.
2. Jim Acosta is failing at his journalistic duties. Acosta has not stayed true to his job description. The purpose of a journalist is to ask unbiased questions. When Acosta gets called on to speak, he doesn't just ask a question, he starts an entire campaign. The purpose of journalism is to ask unbiased questions, not to campaign for your own cause by arguing with the interviewees. STICK TO YOUR JOB JIM!!!!!
3. Childish people do not belong in the White House. Jim Acosta's behavior reminded me of my nephew's behavior. The only difference is that my nephew is two! Acosta's behavior was disrespectful not only to President Trump but also to the other journalists waiting to ask questions that hardly get called on.
4. He refuses to apologize for his actions. Instead of apologizing for his bad behavior, Acosta is just spinning the story against the Trump Administration. CNN just defends his behavior by choosing to frame the story in a different way. The headline of their article on this event was "White House aide grabs and tries to physically remove a microphone from CNN Correspondent Jim Acosta during a contentious exchange with President Trump at a news conference." That is not an accurate headline! The story should not have been framed this way. Instead, it should have been about how Jim Acosta mishandled the intern.
5. We should not condone immaturity. We need to stop condoning immature behavior. We are becoming a nation of sheep. People are not always going to get their way and if they behave immaturely, there will be consequences. Acosta did not act correctly and he should be punished.
As Catholics, we need to stand together and stop buying into the Left's rhetoric. We are too smart to take that from them! Bye Jim! Stick to your job next time!

The Significance of the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration of Independence is by far the best letter written of all time. As a political science major, I hold the Declaration of Independence very close to my heart because it was the beginning of our great nation. Everyone should read the Declaration of Independence so they understand how amazing our country really is.
The Declaration of Independence is so short, but yet so inspiring. The founding fathers were very brave to go against the strongest army in the world at the time to stand up against injustice so we can have the country we have today. They knew that it would not be easy and that what they were doing was unheard of at the time, but yet they had the bravery to do it anyway.
The United States is the greatest country. Politicians will come and go but the principles the United States was founded on surpass that of all other nations.
The Declaration of Independence starts out by saying in the second paragraph “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men.”
This quote is so significant because it shows that our rights are powerful because they are given to us by God, not by men. Therefore whatever is given to us by God can not be taken away. The letter adds that it is the duty of the government to uphold these rights. This is so significant because that is the true purpose of government- to uphold our rights! There are so many governments this day in age that are human rights violators but that goes against the nature of why the government was even established!
The United States is only 241 years old, yet we are a model to other nations. There are some nations that have existed for thousands of years that still cannot get it together. The United States, however, went through a revolutionary war and came out not only triumphant but a model nation to others.
When people criticize the United States and say that it is not great, we should remind them of the amazing principles our country was founded upon. If the United States was not great, do you think people would be trying to cross our borders just to get in?
I absolutely love the United States and no matter how much people like to criticize certain practices of the president, The U.S.A will forever be a model nation to those around us. The Declaration of Independence was the starting point of it all. It is so important to study U.S. history to understand the principles the U.S.A. was founded upon. So I encourage you to start reading the founding documents and admire this amazing country we live in. God bless the U.S.A!

Fighting For a Good Curriculum
When parents send their precious children to school, they expect that they will be receiving a good education and learning about virtue, morality and striving to be academically excellent.
The only problem is that in our American public school system, we are failing to teach our children virtues by exchanging morality for lessons on accepting deviant behavior.
I grew up mostly in the public school system and the garbage that I was exposed to in the curriculum makes me infuriated when I think of what children will be learning by the time my generation becomes parents.
The literature that I learned in school, particularly high school, was geared towards learning about acceptance. We read books about the LGBT community, infidelity and books with graphic sexual descriptions.
Instead of having characters that would allow students to learn lessons about being a good family member, we read about characters that rebelled from their families, had many affairs, struggled with gender identity etc.
Do not even get me started on the health class curriculum. I think "health class" should be renamed to what it actually is- TRASH!!!
"Health Class" in my school was a free-for-all. We spent little time learning about healthy eating or the systems of our body. Everything was about relationships.
When I went to public school, we did not discuss chastity. All the teachers talked about was birth control. It was all about "being empowered" and students were taught it was acceptable to be in unchaste relationships as long as they used contraception.
The lies we are telling our students makes me angry! I watched many of my friends from public school struggle in their relationships because the school system teaches that really anything goes and if you think otherwise you are just a judgemental person!
There have been many instances where parents are infuriated about children being taught deviant sexual behavior is ok. For example, some schools are now pushing for kindergarteners to be taught about transgenderism and parents are not the happiest.
We are not doing our children a favor by teaching them these things! We are ruining their innocence!
Children have a right to be innocent. They should be outside playing hopscotch and going on bike rides, not in a classroom learning about AIDS in the 4th grade (Yes; I learned about this in public school in the 4th grade!).
Catholic parents need to be proactive in their child's education because I have seen many of my friends go away from the Church after being thrown into this jungle or moral relativism.
I suggest that if parents send their children to public school, to find out about the curriculum in detail and know their rights to opt out! I was able to opt out of my public school health class after the first year due to religious reasons. Parents should also take a look at what their kids are learning in their literature classes and discuss that with them!
Our children are the future and we can not corrupt them by exposing them to scenarios they are too young to comprehend the morality of.
Our curriculum should aim to teach students to strive for virtue and become the best versions of themselves.
Write to your Board of Education and see what you can do to change the curriculum your children are exposed to. We must act for the future of America!

How Catholics can be involved in the Pro-Life Movement
In today's society, there is a huge push from the left that if someone is going to be pro-woman they need to be pro-choice. They say that abortion is a woman's issue and every woman as the right to decide what she wants to do with her body.
Though the pro-choice rhetoric may seem convincing, it is absolutely crucial that Catholics spread the truth about the tragedy of abortion.
Many people that are for abortion may not realize the consequences of their actions. Life in the womb is incredible.
Did you know that at 18 days conception the baby's heart begins to beat? At nine weeks the baby has permanent fingerprints. At 12 weeks the baby can smile and suck its thumb.
These facts are amazing and many times people who say they are pro-choice do not realize the humanity of the child in the womb.
I spoke to one of my teachers in high school who told me that she was always pro-choice until she became a mother, "When I heard my son's heartbeat for the first time, my opinion on abortion changed," she said.
One crucial way for Catholics to get involved in the pro-life movement is simply by spreading facts about fetal development to show that the fetus is indeed a baby whose life is worth protecting.
The Pro-life Across America Campaign has printable fetal development cards which people can share with others. This campaign puts billboards around the country showing these incredible fetal development facts and many women have decided not to go through with abortion after seeing one of these billboards.
Another way Catholics can get involved in the pro-life movement is by volunteering at a pregnancy crisis center.
When I was in high school, I organized a baby supplies drive for my local pregnancy crisis center. This is a good way to encourage women to choose life by helping them both emotionally and financially during this time.
Many women choose abortion because they fear they can not provide for their child. If we step up as Catholics and help them out by giving them baby supplies, many of them would not feel so alone that they would need to choose abortion.
God has given us an incredible gift of life and it is important to uphold the life of every human being.
St Pope John Paul II said, "A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope." We must advocate for life in our country by reaching out to those that are most in need.
Catholics can spread the pro-life message by attending the March For Life which is held in Washington D.C. every January. They can also contact their senators and representatives and plead for them to stop the tragedy of abortion.
In Evangelium Vitae, it says, "To claim the right to abortion, infanticide and euthanasia, and to recognize that right in law, means to attribute to human freedom a perverse and evil significance: that of an absolute power over others and against others. This is the death of true freedom: "Truly, truly, I say to you, every one who commits sin is a slave to sin" (Jn 8:34)."
God loves us all unfathomably and gave us each life for a purpose! It is our duty to protect the lives of others so God's plan can be fulfilled.
We must stand together and stop the greatest tragedy that is claiming our generation!

Hello! I am Maria. I am a double major in political science and communication arts at Franciscan University of Steubenville. I created this website to share my love of politics and the news with the world. I started becoming interested in politics when I was a little girl and my mother used to let me stay up late and watch debates with her. She would teach me about what was happening in the world in ways I could understand. As I got older, I researched more about political issues and knew that this was something I wanted to study in college.
In my spare time, you will probably find me eating a loaf of bread and watching political videos on YouTube. If you catch me out of that habitat, I am most likely having an epic dance party to Italian music in my room, taking a walk or procrastiKNITing.
